Los Angeles, CA, June 23, 2003 - Metin Bereketli, the vibrant Los Angeles artist known for his striking DIVERSITY-series of original paintings, has been selected as the official artist of the Bastille Day 2003.

On Sunday, July 13th, French and American citizens will celebrate the official Bastille Day 2003 in the beautiful gardens of the Page Museum in the heart of the Miracle Mile on Wilshire Boulevard (Wilshire Boulevard & Curson Avenue), Los Angeles, CA.

Bereketli’s originalNews of Peace – 2” painting has been selected as the official image of this day of celebration and the motifs from this work are widely used in all on-line and print documentation depicting the event.

Bereketli, who will have a painting exhibition during the Bastille Day, will be available to sign the reprints of his art works and collectible memorabilia for the visitors.

The Page Museum, located on one of the world's most famous fossil sites, is recognized for having the largest and most diverse assemblage of extinct Ice Age plants and animals in the world. In the park, life-size replicas of several extinct mammals are featured.

Under the auspices of the Consulat General de France in Los Angeles, the mission of this year's celebration is to promote the French heritage and culture and to reinforce the undying ties between the French and American people.

Around 5,000 people are expected to attend this Bastille Day 2003, making it one of the year's most well-attended community festivals in Los Angeles. Entertainment will include a 'Provencal Petanque Tournament' under the pine trees, a 'Parisian Waiter's Race', a 'Grande classe de Francais,' street performers, Tahitian dancers, scenic and portrait painters, comedians, singers, and a host of surprises, amidst an authentic French Market with vendors and sidewalk cafés.

An internationally acclaimed Los Angeles based painter, Metin's contemporary works have been featured in galleries and exhibitions worldwide including the Smithsonian, Sotheby's Science Center, Paramount Pictures & Universal Studios and Hollywood & Highland.
