Metin with the genuine hearts behind the whole ARTISM FOR AUTISM movement: Christian (L) and Lori(R) McIlwain. When their own son Conner was diagnosed with autism the young couple refused to give up. Instead, they set up this foundation to raise the funds necessary to advance reseach on and eventually solve the riddle of autism. Metin Bereketli is one of the artists they rely on in the uphill but noble fight. He is proud to call Christian and Lori his friends in this struggle to find a cure to this mysterious ailment that effects 1 in every 150 children in America today.
David Crabtree, WRAL-TV newsanchor and four-time North Carolina Journalist of the Year, volunteered his precious time to auction off many original art pieces including Metin's "Dancing Hands/Hi5's" seen on left. All the proceeds of Metin's original art and collectible reproductions went to Artism for Autism foundation.
Dr. Jeffrey Segal (far left) in collaboration with UNC Medical School and Stephen J. Walker (left) of Wake Forest University are the two brave doctors trying to find a cure for autism through cutting-edge biomedical research. The funds raised through ARTISM FOR AUTISM help them push the frontiers of science for all the kids and their families suffering from this mysterious ailment.
